Author Instructions
The Editorial Process
A manuscript submitted to Bulletin of Health Sphere (Bull. Health Sphere) is expected to be submitted exclusively to this journal at the time of submission, with the understanding that it has not been published elsewhere, simultaneously submitted, or accepted for publication in another journal. The journal requests that one author be designated as the corresponding author to manage all communication with the journal regarding the manuscript. Upon submission, the journal acknowledges all manuscripts received.
Initial Review
Upon submission, the editors will conduct an initial review of all manuscripts to determine their suitability for formal review. Manuscripts that exhibit insufficient originality, significant scientific or technical flaws, or a lack of a significant message will be rejected at this stage. Manuscripts that may not be of interest to OSJDHS readers will also be rejected prior to formal peer review.
Peer Review
Manuscripts deemed suitable for publication are sent for formal review to two or more expert reviewers. Authors are requested to provide the names of two or three qualified reviewers with expertise in the subject matter, though this is not mandatory. The selection of reviewers is at the sole discretion of the editor. The journal follows a double-blind peer review process, wherein both reviewers and authors remain unaware of each other’s identities. Each manuscript is assigned to an editorial team member, who, based on the reviewers' comments, will make the final decision on the manuscript.
Revision Process
Reviewers’ comments and suggestions (acceptance, rejection, or required amendments) are communicated to the corresponding author. If necessary, the author is asked to provide a point-by-point response to the reviewers’ comments and submit a revised version of the manuscript. This revision process continues until the reviewers and editors are satisfied with the manuscript.
Copyediting and Proofing
Accepted manuscripts are copyedited for grammar, punctuation, print style, and format. Page proofs are sent to the corresponding author for review. The author is expected to return the corrected proofs within three working days. After that period, it may not be possible to incorporate any changes. The entire submission process, from submission to final decision and receipt of proofs, is handled online.
Ahead of Print
To expedite the dissemination of knowledge, accepted articles are published online as "Ahead of Print" immediately upon acceptance.
Artificial Intelligence Writing Policy
If authors use generative AI tools or AI-assisted technologies in the writing of the manuscript, production of images or graphical elements, or the collection and analysis of data, they must clearly disclose the specific AI tool used and its role in the manuscript. Authors are fully responsible for the content of their manuscript, including any AI-generated content, and are liable for any breach of publication ethics. The use of AI tools should be described in the Methods or Acknowledgments section.
Clinical Trial Registry
OSJDHS supports the registration of clinical trials and is a signatory to the Statement on Publishing Clinical Trials in Indian Biomedical Journals. Clinical trials must be registered in a public registry with free online access. Acceptable trial registries include:
This policy applies to clinical trials that began enrolling participants in or after June 2008. Clinical trials that commenced enrollment before June 2008 will only be considered if they are retrospectively registered in a publicly accessible registry.
Authorship Criteria
Authorship is based on substantial contributions to the following areas:
-
Concept and design of the study, acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data.
-
Drafting the article or revising it critically for intellectual content.
-
Final approval of the version to be published.
Simply acquiring funding or collecting data does not justify authorship. General supervision of the research group is not sufficient for authorship. The order of authors should reflect their relative contributions to the study and manuscript preparation, and once submitted, cannot be changed without written consent from all contributors.
Contribution Details
Each contributor should provide a description of their specific contributions, including areas such as concept, design, data acquisition, analysis, manuscript preparation, editing, and review. One or more authors should take responsibility for the integrity of the work and be designated as the "guarantor."
Conflicts of Interest/Competing Interests
All authors must disclose any conflicts of interest related to the manuscript, including any affiliations or products critical to the study’s outcome. Authors must also disclose any conflicts of interest with products that compete with those mentioned in the manuscript.
Manuscript Submission
Manuscripts must be submitted online through the website. First-time users must register, which is free but mandatory. Registered authors can track their submissions after logging in. The journal does not charge for manuscript submission or processing.
Manuscript Format
Manuscripts that do not adhere to the journal's submission guidelines will be returned for corrections before they undergo peer review. Manuscripts should be submitted as two separate files:
